The objective is not to completely eliminate stress or anxiety. This is something we need to make clear right from the very start, it is just something that is possible.

Believe it or not, stress and anxiety can be useful emotions. Both put the body into a physiological state of heightened arousal, attention and awareness and can even increase physical strength and power. When you are stressed, you are essentially ‘amped up’ and this makes you better at completing physical tasks or reacting on the spot.

I was reading a guidebook for those recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia that just made me quite angry. They gave some quite inaccurate, horrible advice. One thing they said was you did not need to rule out other illnesses.

I was like wait, what? Over my years of having fibromyalgia and meeting so many others with it through support groups I have discovered people diagnosed with fibromyalgia without any further investigation just to learn they have thyroid disease, are anemic, or are having a heart attack. There are so many other things that could be causing your issues, even if you definitely have fibromyalgia.
