Hi, I am Vixen. Pets are family. Of course we will come along. I see many paws on our travels, and I think more rigs have pets than not. I could be wrong, but my nose says I am close. What I know for sure is that we like being part of the adventure.
Most RV parks are kind to animals, and they also have rules that keep the peace. I keep on a leash when I am out and I do not wait outside alone. I practice my quiet voice so neighbors can rest. And Mom always picks up after me. That part is not just a rule. It is good manners. A clean path makes new friends.
At home in the rig, I like my things in the same places. I have a bed in the living room and a bed in the bedroom, and my bowls go in their usual spot once we park. There is a basket for my toys. I pull them out one by one after Mom puts them away. This is how I decorate. It helps me feel settled in new places.
I am a dog, but I respect whiskers. For cat travel, we listened to a friend who rolls with a kitten. She says starting young helps because kittens learn the rhythm of moving. Her cat rides in a small dog crate where she can see outside. On travel days the litter box rests in the shower and gets emptied, so litter does not fly everywhere. The cat wears a harness for short walks and has a little outdoor run for fresh air. Older cats may need practice with short car trips to learn it is safe. Cats who live outdoors often want to stay outdoors, and doors can be tricky with curious paws.
Sometimes humans go exploring without us. If you leave a pet in the rig, please make sure the temperature stays kind. Heat comes fast inside, the way it does in a car in the sun. Air conditioning or a safe cool setup matter. Cold days need warmth too. Leaving a pet outside while you are gone is not safe, even if we promise to be brave. We do best when we feel comfortable and secure.
Paperwork helps the wheels keep turning. Some parks ask for vaccination records, and some have breed rules. Keep copies handy, along with our tags, so check-in is quick, and tails can wag sooner.
That is my guide from the passenger seat. Give us a spot that smells like home, follow the simple rules, and bring us along when you can. We will share the road with you, one nap, one walk, and one happy hello at a time.
Nose boops until next time.
